On an oval base, a Foo dog is represented on this clock. The Foo dog is the Chinese guardian, often placed in front of the Imperial Palace, temples and tombs. The Foo dog who decorates this clock is shown raised on hind legs, letting his front legs rest on a globe integrating the clockwork.
