A 19th-century mantel clock crafted in black marble and chased gilt bronze. The structure is surmounted by a gilt bronze sculpture of a lion resting its paw on a sphere. The circular white enamel dial features black Roman numerals and is framed by a gilt bronze bezel decorated with an acanthus leaf frieze. The rectangular black marble body is adorned with openwork gilt bronze appliques featuring palmette motifs on its corners. The lower section rests on a rectangular marble base, decorated in its center with a chased bronze floral garland flanked by foliate scrolls. The piece is supported by gilt bronze feet and retains its original gilding.
