A late 19th-century period table clock with Orientalist decoration, resting on a rectangular onyx base. The metal case features rich polychrome cloisonné enamel ornamentation with geometric and floral motifs inspired by the Far East. The dial consists of a cloisonné enamel center surrounded by a white enamel cartouche indicating the hours in black Roman numerals. The architectural structure of the case is flanked on either side by two dragon figures sculpted in high relief. The Parisian clockmaker Ch. Boye, whose activity is documented from 1850 onwards, distinguished himself by the precision of his clock movements. His creations have been regularly selected to equip high-end ornamental cases, notably those resulting from the collaboration between the famous Barbedienne art foundry and the sculptor-ornamentalist Louis-Constant Sevin (1821-1888), major figures of historicism and orientalism in the decorative arts of the second half of the 19th century.
