The Bois Jourdan marble is a crystalline limestone with a grey background going from light grey to dark grey, with lots of white veins, and we can also find large red veins on some.
The quarry of Bois Jourdan marble is found in Grez-en-Bouère, in Mayenne. This quarry neighbours the quarry where we find Rose Enjugerais marble. The quarry is still in operation today.
Bois Jourdan marble is known worldwide for its large decorative and chromatic qualities. This marble is found on a lot of French artictecture such as the Trianon or the Sacré-Coeur in Montmarte.

The marble was used to decorate the buffet of Saint-Lazare station, as well as the New York theatre.
Bois Jourdan marble was used a lot worldwide during the 19th and 20th century.
