This Napoleon III-style fireplace is characterized by its rich motifs and details. The quality of the Carrara marble, sourced from quarries in the Apuan Alps, allows the marble to be worked with finesse and detail.
On the band, pearls form a rectangular frame. Floral, plant, and cultural motifs in a mix of low and high relief protrude from the pearls. A central pan flute is mixed with a wreath of flowers and gardening tools such as a rake, shovel, and sickle.
The sickle refers to the ears of wheat carved on either side of the fireplace’s legs, tied with ropes in which field flowers are caught. The sides of the legs are decorated with laurel leaves arranged on a chain, creating a garland of leaves. The lower parts of the legs resemble the base of antique columns, and the entire lower part of the mantel is decorated with a frieze of laurel leaves.
This fireplace reflects the Napoleon III style. A rich décor and multiple inspirations, particularly in the Louis XVI style, a style borrowing from nature and Greek Antiquity.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
