This Louis XV-style fireplace is carved in Fleur de Pêcher, a pink marble made up of irregular fragments flecked with violet, red, or pink, quarried at Seravezza in the Carrara basin of Italy. The fireplace’s band is adorned with a central shell surrounded by finely carved acanthus and ivy leaves. From the central shell, curved moldings follow the curved shape of the band up to the legs. The console part of the leg is adorned with acanthus leaf scrolls, beneath which is a shell surrounded by scrolls. The composition of lateral and central shells is characteristic of the Louis XV style, echoing Rocaille motifs. The rest of the legs are adorned with moldings and the sides are decorated with scrolls.
This fireplace comes with an antique cast iron insert ADAPTED to this fireplace and with its original marble floor.
