This regency style fireplace wqs made out of a very veined Arabescato marble during the 19th century. The console feet support a slightly curved entablature, which is decorated in the centre with a shell, in the style of Louis XV.
Arabescato marble comes from the Carrara region in Italy. It is a white marble with crystal particles emphasised by stylolites and marked by green and black minerals. Quarried since Antiquity, there are still a number of quarries that are active. Used in the Mirror gallery in the Versailles Palace.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
