This rare Onyx fireplace was made in the 19th century.
The mantelpiece's hearth is framed by a pearled frieze, characteristic of Louis XVI style. More precisely the whole composition refers to the Neoclassical style . The battlements supporting the shelf looks like gouttae under taenia in a Greek temple entablature. With the use of detached columns, the comparaison to a Greek temple is complete.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order, depending of the availability of the onyx for the floor.
