Big antique fireback with jansenist decoration

This large 18th century fireback wears the Jansenist badge representing the three Theological Virtues. Faith is thus depicted as a blindfolded woman while Hope is represented by an anchor and Charity by a flaming heart. A Latin inscription runs along this medallion "Ardet Amans Spe Nixa Fides" which means "Faith, relied on Hope, burning with the fire of Charity." This sentence appeared in the frontispiece of all Jansenists books. Finally, the medallion is surrounded on all sides by the Cardinal Virtues : Fortitude, Justice, Temperance and Prudence.

Important set of 20th century Art Deco style stained glass windows

Set of stained glass windows from the 1930s, consisting of six large arched pieces (H. 100.79 inch, W. 61.02 inch), one narrower piece (H. 96.85 inch, W. 40.94 inch), two smaller pieces (H. 72.05 inch, W. 40.55 inch), one very small piece (H. 56.1 inch, W. 37.01 inch) and two round pieces (diameter 48.43 inch).

Exceptional pair of double Louis XV curved doorsn decorated on the two faces

This pair of double curved doors was made in the late 19th century od painted in white wood. They are adorned on their two faces with a very beautiful Rococo decor in low relief. The brass locks and handles on the sunck part depict a remarkable chiseled decoration made in a very fine way composed of plants also in a Louis XV style.

Small Louis XVI style fireback with an Allegory of Love

This antique Louis XVI style fireback was made in the 19th century. It depicts a scene where two hearts are burning on an altar surrounded by a laurel branches crown and flanked by a quiver with its arrows and a torch, the attributes of Love.

Mediterranean landscape, a rare iridescent dish by Delphin MASSIER

Made around 1900, this magnificent ceramic dish with metallic lustre is signed by Delphin Massier. Based in the Côte d'Azur, the Massier brothers ran a famous artistic pottery workshop. At the end of the 19th century, their highly distinguished creations adorned the drawing rooms of the Riviera's rich private mansions. The Massiers also worked for the crowned heads of Europe. The Massiers are considered to be the fathers of Vallauris decorative pottery, which was to become very famous in the 20th century. A large, spectacular dish, it pays tribute to the Mediterranean landscape, full of iridescence thanks to the use of the metallic lustre technique. The framing of the landscape and the tranquillity of the view, combined with the colours, are reminiscent of Japanese inspiration. Using a similar technique, a dish signed by Clément Massier, Delphin's brother, is in the collections of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
