Important japanese style pedestal desk with dragons decoration

Flat pedestal desk opening with 10 drawers: three drawers on a well, three drawers on the apron and four drawers on the tablet. The writing tablet in the shape of an unfolded roll with raised edges is covered with patinated leather and a glass plate. Engraved or carved decoration of motifs in the style of China and bronze dragons, birds and branches in mother-of-pearl and ivory. Handles in bronze, shaped like turtles for the four top drawers.

Henri-Auguste FOURDINOIS (1830-1907) - Louis XVI style Bureau plat

Stamp "H. FOURDINOIS" under the top of the bureau. Fruit of a superb work of marquetry and wood veneer (walnut, cherry, blackened pear, sycamore), this Bureau plat is adorned on all sides of gilt bronze, rosettes of Louis XVI style, foliage and friezes of flowers. The desk rests on four toupies feet which develops in the shape of tapered and fluted columns, topped with asparagus heads characteristic of the Louis XVI style, and surmounted by capitals of ionic order. The gilt bronze ornaments of this flat desk are of a very high quality. The excellence of carving and gilding attest to a virtuoso work.

Gentil & Bourdet (attributed to), Antique Art Nouveau oak and stoneware mantel

Made at the beginning of the 20th century, this mantel is attributed to Alphonse Gentil (1872 - 1933) and Eugène Bourdet (1874 -1952). These two men created a stoneware factory in Billancourt, near Paris, in 1901, and participated in the Art Nouveau mouvement, then, after World War I, adapted their creations to the Art Deco taste. We owe them a lot of stoneware creations but also many mosaics that we can find on some buildings’ facades and floors in France. They participated with success at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes in 1925, and closely worked with the architects of their period. Our mantel shows a beautiful enameled stoneware decor typical of the Art Nouveau taste for plants. On the jambs, tiles adorned with laurel leaves, the entablature has the same motif. The angles are adorned with a group of laurel leaves that creates a stylized rose in relief. The slab and the sides are made of oak.

Napoleon III console in statuary and Turquin Blue marbles with bronze decorations

This very beautiful console with a rich bronze decor was made in the second half of the 19th century in statuary marble and lightened up with elements in Blue Turquin marble. The header with the curved and fluted sides, shows on its middle an acanthus scrolls decoration in bronze, of which a part is missing. The joining parts of which the back is made of Blue Turquin marble should receive roses in bronze surrounding with pearls trim, but only one of the two is still here. About the feet, they receive imposing console elements with volutes in Blue Turquin marble ligthened up with bronze decors such as a oak leaves crown and asperagus heads on the flutes.
