He was a nephew and student of Mialhe, architect. He continued studying under Duphot, Roux and Ch. Burghet, who he became close partners with. Jélineau belonged to the very influential Société des Architectes de Bordeaux created in 1840. This society was very outspoken on questions of urban regulations.
