Large antique-style gilt and chased bronze vase decorated with pastoral and maritime landscapes. The tall, flared neck is decorated with gadroons and supported by handles forming cornucopias from which dangle intricately carved fruit. Garlands of oak leaves adorn the body of the vase, framing a scene depicting Ceres, the goddess of agriculture, in a pastoral landscape on one side, and an antique ship in a sunset seascape on the other. The vase rests on a foot decorated with acanthus leaves and woven wicker, resting on a square plinth base. The vase is signed "F. Barbedienne. Paris".
