This nice pair of vases comes from the personal residence of Louis Lonati (at 16 rue Alphonse Mairey, in Dijon) classified in the general inventory of cultural property. The contractor Louis Lonati, concrete specialist, who participated in the construction of several buildings in Dijon, built his villa in 1926. Italian born, his house resumes the Florentine style codes with use of modern materials such as concrete, while using an Art Deco decor.
This pair of vases was therefore in the garden of this villa. On a square base column is a vase decorated with small newts and fauna heads in antique style that could be found in the most beautiful Florentine gardens. This pair of vases is at the image of the house, ancient Italian style. They are made out of a new material in the 1920s: the composite stone.
