19th century
Pair of garden statues made out of marble during the 19th century. They present two different groups of putti. In each group, a putto stands on either side of a column, from the top of which falls garlands of flowers, fruits and foliage held by the putti. On the base of the columns, we can make out the portraits of young, inspiring women and men from the 18th century, set against medallions. At the top of the columns, falls garlands of flowers, fruit and foilage which are held by the putti figurines. Note the fine carving work done to make the hair of the putti figurines: each strand was cut using a trepan. But, the most delicate piece of carving, is the garlands of fruit, where the marble was considerably changed by the sculptor.
