Fireplace in Carrara marble made in the 19th century in the Louis XVI style. The straight-lined frieze is adorned at its centre with a carved rosette featuring acanthus leaves, framed by rectangular moulded panels. The jambs are decorated with large acanthus leaf falls carved in high relief, resting on plain, angled bases. The pilasters are fluted with flat grooves, emphasising the vertical lines of the composition. The shelf is moulded and slightly overhanging. The entire piece is made from fine-grained white Carrara marble with discreet veining. This fireplace comes with a cast iron insert finely decorated with high-relief vegetal motifs, including scrolls, foliage, flower garlands and a central urn.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
