This beautiful Louis XV style mantelpiece was carved in Aleppo Breche in the 19th century.
The lintel is adorned with a freely executed palmette in the center. The spandrels are carved with a molding ending in foliage in very low relief. Its curved and counter-curved lines are underlined by the alternately concave and convex jambs. At the top, they are adorned with a shell from which rises a garland of foliage, while at the bottom, they end with a tall acanthus leaf. The contrasting colors of the marble add to the richness of the carved ornamentation and the exceptional character of this mantelpiece.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor, which is broken but will be restored in our workshop.
