This Louis XV-style mantelpiece was carved in Carrara marble in the 19th century.
The center of the lintel is adorned with a shell, a characteristic motif of 18th century Rococo art, from which rise interlacing foliage. Two flowers emerge on either side, a rose and a daisy. Curving lines link the central motif to the equally richly decorated jambs. At the top, a concave scroll is also adorned with a shell with carved edges, from which hangs a garland of pearls extended by a flower; the lower part is carved with an acanthus leaf ending in a scroll. The sides of the mantelpiece are molded.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor, which is broken but will be restored in our workshop.
