This Louis XIV-style mantelpiece in Incarnat Turquin was executed at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1907.
The upper part of the lintel takes the form of an architectural cornice. At its center is a white marble bas-relief depicting the god Poseidon driving the three horses of his chariot (a large shell) over the foam; behind him, a dolphin emerges from the waves. The bas-relief is signed E. Richard (?) and dated 1907. The lower part of the lintel and the jambs are molded. The strong contrasts in the marble add to the decorative aspect of the mantel.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert but with its marble floor, which is broken but will be restored in our workshop.
