The marble of this mantel is Red Incarnat Turquin similar to the Red Languedoc marble. In a Louis XIV style this design offers a variation on the Bolection mantel, which normally has a molding that flows directly down the jambs to the floor. Here the jambs are designed differently: with a console shape they are filleted and fluted at the bottom and rest on base blocks.
The marble has a light colored hue with sharp contrasting white elements.
This mantel dates back to the 1850’s.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
