This beautiful mantel was made of Carrara marble in the late 19th century.
Its decoration and sinuous lines are typical of the Louis XV style. Indeed, we can see on the serpentine entablature a beautiful shell on the center underlined by an oblong moulding which goes down the jambs. The jambs are adorned on their upper parts with smaller shells followed by garlands flowers falling on the scroll bulge. A large acanthus leave comes also to crown the mantel hoof.
This fireplace is sold with a cast iron inside but without the original marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availabily).
