This rare antique Directoire style fireplace was made in the 19th century in an unidentified brown marble. The beautiful sculptures adorning the frieze and the jambs are made of low-relief Statuary Carrarar marble. Thus, the frieze is finely carved with a bow and his arrow. The jambs, slightly curved in their upper part, are fluted and topped with asparagus heads. The heads of the jambs are decorated with square cabochons showing a geometric ornament, beads and stylized flower.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but these one could be made to order (subject to the choice of the marble).
