This Provençal mantelpiece was made in the 18th century in Turquin marble, with inlays of two other marbles. The lintel with curved lines unfolds around a central heart-shaped cartouche inlaid with Sarrancolin Fantastico. On either side, Violet Breche and this other marble inlays highlight the curves of the fireplace. The straight-shaped jambs also have marble inlays highlighted with grooves. The shapes fit together perfectly, making the whole harmonious.
This style of two-coloured mantelpiece is typical of the Provençal production of the 18th century.
