This antique Louis XV style cast iron fireback was made in the 18th century. It represents The toilet of Venus : surrounded by her maids, the goddess takes a look in the mirror. It is a mythological theme often represented in art, as on this painting by Charles Joseph Natoire exhibited in Bordeaux and whose this fireback seems inspired as the compositions are similar.
