This large *Brèche violette* marble console table features a top with projecting ends—rounded in a demi-lune shape—accentuated by a *bec de corbin* (bird's-beak) molding. It rests on two supports shaped like scrolled consoles; their upper scrolls are carved with fluting, and their side faces are adorned with oval medallions in low relief. Each support terminates in a lion's paw resting on a molded plinth. Between the two supports, a wide central panel is framed by molding with *crossettes* (eared corners) and rests on a connecting base plinth. This decorative vocabulary—combining scrolled consoles, lion's paws, and eared moldings—draws upon the grand classical decorative style revived by the Napoleon III aesthetic. The choice of *Brèche violette* marble plays a key role in the overall visual impact. Quarried in Tuscany, this marble is characterized by white fragments set within a network of violet, wine-red, gray, and sea-green veins. The stonemason arranged the marble slabs to complement the forms: the veins follow the curve of the scrolls and run horizontally across the central panel, lending the console a strong sense of visual unity.
