Beautiful sculpted walnut, Neo-Renaissance style piece of furniture signed by the Florentine cabinetmaker Egisto Gajani and dated 1876. The large central door-leaf is adorned with a scene of Venus holding a mirror and a putto. This door-leaf is framed with two fluted half-columns. The side door-leaves are sculpted with grotesques and chimeras. The doors open onto a series of drawers.
There is an antique engraving of this piece of furniture illustrated in the work Botteghe di Mobilieri in Toscana, 17801900, page 479 (see photos).
